Sunrise from Ogasawara Maru

I live in Tokyo and have traveled, both by myself and with my family, to all 47 prefectures in Japan, including many remote islands, and also across several continents.

As my family members have been growing up, I have taken them all around Japan to let them experience Japan’s beautiful nature, unique culture and local delicacies. Japan is a small island nation, however, we wanted to feel the real size of Japan. So, we took a 17-hour night train from Tokyo to Hokkaido which covers over 800 km and boarded the  24-hour Ogasawaramaru Ship to the Ogasawara Islands, 1,000 km away from the mainland.

View from top of Mount Kanaya

At Mount Kanaya in Niigata, I encountered the amazing view above and had a strong urge to share the beautiful scenery of Japan, which is why I began posting here on wonder-tips.com. Wondertips is for people who are looking for inspiration in finding their next adventure. It also explains various aspects of culture to make travel easier in Japan, as well as showing little-known local places.

  17. Hello! I have a question. I’m trying to learn about nature conservation in Japan, because it’s not something that gets talked about very often in the U.S. Do you happen to know about any important conservation issues in Japan that I could start reading about? I’m searching online for relevant topics, but I’d like to hear from people who live in Japan, too. Thank you!
