Mikuriga-ike pond at Murododaira, Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route in Toyama
Murododaira is the key station to visit Kurobe Dam and Tateyama mountain range. It is also a great place for a walking trail. When we visited Kurobe Dam, we didn’t prepare any equipment for climbing mountains, but we could enjoy the walking trail at Murododaira.
Mikuriga-ike Pond was created by a volcanic eruption and there are plankton but no fish in the pond. The circumference is 630 m and the depth is 15 m. It takes one hour to walk around the pond.
We saw reflections of the scenery of the Tateyama mountain range in the mirror like surface of the lake. It’s one of the most picturesque spots for a stroll at Murododaira.
Alpine plants were blooming around the Mikuriga-ike Pond.
